LOVE TO FISH?
Hi! Welcome to my fishing page! I hope
you will find it an entertaining and educational visit. This site is dedicated to all people who love to fish, particularly
those who lean towards the "art" of fly fishing.
We will look at fly fishing the Bow River in southern Alberta
but also discuss some of the other excellent opportunities and trips we have had the pleasure of pursuing over the last 20
years. Included will be descriptions of the places visited and some methods we used to achieve success.
I hope you will find something here that catches your imagination.
If you wish to contact us to arrange a guided fly fishing trip on the world renowned Bow River, please e-mail us at the location
listed at the bottom of our home page. We'd love to see you on the Bow. (Be sure to check out our photo page to
see some of the fish that you can get into here)
Our trips are designed to appeal to the fisherman and the
non-fisherman. You can birdwatch, look for widlife, explore the islands and side channels or simply drift and enjoy
the scenery. Once you float the Bow, you'll want to come back for more!
WHAT WORKS ON THE BOW?
In our experience, the Bow produces best as a nymphing river, but the Bow is world
renowned for the spectacular dry fly fishing that it can produce. (Just ask George Bush who joined a
list of many world famous fly fishermen to visit the river when he floated the Bow 2 years ago) The
Bow has predictable and prolific "hatches" all year round, ranging from tiny midges to spectacular Caddis and large
Rainbows and Browns feed voraciously on them when the time is right! Summer evenings often feature heavy caddis hatches
and energetic fish chasing emerging insects. If you ever want to catch a 26 inch Brown in shallow water, the Bow will
provide you with the opportunity. Book a guide, pray for the hatch and hang on!
THE BLUE RIBBON BOW
The Bow is world renowned as a "blue Ribbon" fly fishing river and the fish it yields to its fishermen
every year are a challenge to any one who likes to catch fish on a fly. The Bow River first came into prominence as
a world famous flyfishing river in the early 1980's and since then, fishermen from around the world have come to enjoy the
opportunity to catch and release some of the largest trout you can ever take on a dry fly or a nymph.
However, the Bow can also be fished using traditional tackle quite succesfully. The Bow can
present some interesting challenges, but a good guide and some good weather go a long way to making for an unforgettable day
on the water.
